KPC Volleyball Team Crowned Champions at the 26th Genocide Memorial Tournament

Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) Volleyball Team delivered a stellar performance at the 26th Genocide Memorial Tournament in Kigali, Rwanda, emerging champions after an impressive unbeaten run against some of the region’s top clubs. The tournament campaign got off to a perfect start as KPC swept aside hosts Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA) in straight sets. The Kenyan champions dominated throughout the match, securing a convincing 3-0 victory with set scores of 25-17, 25-18 and 25-18.

Buoyed by the opening win, KPC continued their strong form in the quarterfinals, overcoming Rwanda’s APR 3-1. The team comfortably claimed the opening two sets before APR staged a brief comeback in the third. However, KPC responded with composure and determination to seal the fourth set and secure a place in the semi-finals.

In the semi-finals, KPC faced a spirited challenge from Kepler Women Volleyball Club. After taking the opening set, the Kenyan champions surrendered the next two sets before mounting a remarkable comeback. Displaying resilience, teamwork and championship character, KPC won the fourth set and dominated the decisive fifth set to secure a thrilling 3-2 victory and book their place in the final. The tournament culminated in a highly anticipated final against APR. KPC produced one of their most dominant performances of the competition, defeating the Rwandan side in straight sets to clinch the title. The team-controlled proceedings from start to finish, winning 25-17, 25-20 and 25-15 to be crowned champions of the 26th Genocide Memorial Tournament.

Beyond the court, the tournament also delivered positive digital engagement for the Club and Company. Social media coverage generated thousands of views across platforms, attracted new followers on TikTok and expanded KPC Volleyball’s growing online community, reflecting increasing interest in the team’s success and the KPC brand. The triumph in Kigali adds another significant achievement to KPC Volleyball Team’s growing list of accomplishments and reaffirmed the Company’s continued investment in sporting excellence. The victory also provides a major boost as the team prepares for upcoming national competitions.

In addition, dominance was reflected in the individual awards, with Veronica Adhiambo was named the Best Outside Hitter, Sharon Jepkogei Arusei was named the Best Libero, Emmaculate Nekesa the Best Setter and Marian Sokoiyo scooped Best Middle Blocker and the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award.

The team now returns home to focus on the KVF Women’s Quarter-Final Playoffs, scheduled for 26th-28th June 2026, where they will look to build on their success in Kigali and continue their pursuit of domestic honours.
