Ag. MD Inspects Ongoing Projects at PS 25

The Ag. MD Mr. Pius Mwendwa visited PS 25 to assess the progress of ongoing projects.

During the visit, Mr Mwendwa emphasized the importance of project management and directed that all projects must have Gantt Charts “to enhance planning, monitoring and accountability.”

He said Terminal Managers will henceforth sit in Project Implementation Committees in their jurisdiction to enhance project implementation and management. Additionally, the Ag.GM O&ES, Mr Moses Tawuo said each project will have an assigned engineer responsible for driving it through to completion.

The Ag. MD encouraged the Operations & Engineering Services teams to quantify “the lost opportunity cost” resulting from delays and invoke the relevant contractual obligations to safeguard the Company’s interests and ensure realization of project benefits.

The team also toured ongoing works at the station such as the Bottom Loading Facility, The replacement of Line 2 Control Panel at the control room, Installation of Fuel Facs Upgrade, External Repainting of product tanks and new loading pumps at PS 25.

The team concluded the visit by planting fruit trees as part of KPC’s greening campaign.

Key Priorities Outlined by the Ag. MD during the Townhall

During the Townhall, Ag. MDMr. Pius Mwendwa challenged employees to go the extra mile in delivering results and commended the Nakuru team for surpassing its 2026 throughput target, describing the achievement as a reflection of the teams commitment and hard work. He informed staff that the modalities for the Employee Share Ownership Plan (ESOP) were being finalised and would be rolled out in due course. To strengthen communication across the Company, he also announced the introduction of a monthly CEO Bulletin that will keep employees informed of key developments and strategic priorities.

He further praised the Nakuru depot for its organisation, professionalism and orderly operations, noting that the team clearly understands its responsibilities and continues to demonstrate teamwork. He also acknowledged the depot’s strong safety performance, highlighting that no major incidents had been reported, a testament to the team’s commitment to maintaining high safety standards and delivering reliable service.

The Ag MD Mr. Pius Mwendwa outlined five key priority areas that will guide the Company’s focus into the future:

1. Safety

  • Ensure all staff work in a safe environment.
  • Reduce the time taken to implement corrective measures.
  • Take precaution at all times and make safety the Company’s number one priority.

2. Customer Excellence

  • Treat customers with dignity, respect and professionalism in every interaction.

3. Operational Excellence and Cost Discipline

  • Focus on achieving the Company’s strategic goals.
  • Spend only where it matters and exercise cost management.
  • Consider value creation in every decision and activity undertaken.

4. People

  • Introduce a comprehensive reward and recognition programme to motivate and celebrate outstanding performance.

5. Integrity

  • Always do the right thing and uphold the highest standards of accountability.

GM HR&A Mrs. Dinah Kirwa emphasised that the Company is strengthening its performance management framework by placing greater emphasis on individual productivity and accountability. She encouraged employees to move beyond merely “ticking the box” and instead focus on creating value in their respective roles. She noted that clearly defined individual targets and KPI’s will enhance accountability, reduce duplication of effort and provide employees with a clear performance roadmap. According to Mrs. Kirwa, this approach will support individual growth while driving the Company’s overall performance and long-term success.
